Zumio X – Check out & Review

I’m torn about the Zumio X. Sometimes, the stimulation it provided felt great, and other times I was completely overwhelmed and longed for something a bit more diffuse. However, I think it could be a fantastic match for someone who loves very direct stimulation, and perhaps finds lots of other vibrators lacking. If you’re someone who owns a buzzy vibrator and longs for less numbness and more rumbles, the Zumio X could be an answer. However, I would recommend those who have the patience of a saint to withstand the humungous charging time – or maybe someone who has another sex toy to tide them over!.

About The Zumio X

The Zumio X (or Xena) is a clitoral stimulator that with a SpiroTip™ that moves in quick, circular motions. This delivers precise, targeted stimulation directly to the clitoris or the surrounding area. It does not vibrate, but instead uses very rapid movements to provide pulse-like stimulation.

My Enjoy With Zumio X

Zumio-X-Personal-Experience

If there’s one thing you learn about the Zumio X as you research it, it’s that it’s not a vibrator! In all four models, Zumio have gone to great lengths to emphasize how their SpiroTip™ technology is different — and doesn’t come along with all the negatives of vibrations. It’s more like a wonderful swirling finger, according to SheVibe. That tempting claim is what originally caught my attention.

So, Is It Really Better Than a Vibrator?

In short, no. However, I really don’t know if it’s fair comparison.

When I was looking at the Zumio X, I hadn’t seen any clips of it in motion, and I really expected it to feel similar to a gentle, caressing finger. But when I actually tried it out, it was completely different — and I was disappointed. Instead, the rotations were extremely fast, and felt much more like a regular vibrator.

If I had to compare the sensations of the Zumio X to another toy, it would be the rumbly vibrations of my Tango X bullet vibrator. “But Rachel!”, I hear you cry, “You’re obsessed with the Tango X!”. Yes, I am, it’s true — and the Zumio’s rumbliness did feel good! But, part of why I love the Tango X so much is because of its versatility. I didn’t want to use the Zumio X during partner sex, because I was afraid of pressing it too hard and breaking the tip. I enjoy firm stimulation, but the only way to do it with the Zumio is to hold the toy flat against your body and go for broad stimulation over precision.

So, it may well be better than a very buzzy vibrator, but to me it’s pretty indistinguishable from a rumbly one.

Sixteen Hours Later…

The Zumio X has one very big caveat when compared to other vibrators: a whopping 16 hour charging time! Zumio have gone with inductive charging for their products, which, if you’ve ever charged your phone wirelessly, you’ll know isn’t the fastest method. This was hugely off-putting for me. The idea of such a long charging time really had me wanting to keep my sessions short and conserve power so I could test it properly! And once it ran out? Well, it didn’t see any more action for quite a while.

Design

Zumio-X-Design

The Zumio X’s design is certainly unusual! The most striking part is probably the SpiroTip™ sticking out of the top like ET’s finger. It’s a small, thin piece of plastic with a rounded tip that swirls around incredibly quickly, providing the Zumio’s intense stimulation. The Zumio also comes with a cover for the tip to stop it getting damaged, which makes the whole body a bit pea pod-shaped. I don’t love the purple, but that’s just a personal taste.

Ease of Use

Zumio-X-Ease-of-Use

The Zumio X is super easy to use. I often have a hard time remember which button does what on a vibrator, but they’ve kept it simple here. They’re are easy to find when you’re not looking at them, thanks to the raised edges, and each one only does one thing! The shape of the body was very easy for me to hold, though I do wish it was more grippy silicone rather than the smooth plastic. Plus, the whole toy is pretty lightweight.

Quality

Zumio-X-Quality

This toy feels very well-made. Nothing rattles around when you move it, and all the functions seem to work with no problems. The materials of every piece feel sturdy, and even though the tip itself is delicate, it’s protected by the plastic cover.

Price

Zumio-X-Packaging

The Zumio X is certainly not the most expensive vibrator (or, not vibrator?) on the market today, but it isn’t the cheapest either. If you want one, you’ll be looking at around $100 or more at most places. For that, you’ll get the toy, its plastic cover, plus an inductive charging port and cable (but no AC adaptor). Personally, I think you can get an equally good, if not better, rumbly vibrator for less.

Performance

Zumio-X-Performance

The Zumio X is certainly powerful, and the rumbly oscillations did feel pretty good. However, they’re also very direct and intense, which was sometimes overwhelming. Zumio say that they use ‘pressure-sensitive technology’, that changes the intensity of the stimulation based on how much pressure you apply, but if it’s really there, I didn’t notice it at all. Perhaps the biggest problem with the Zumio, however, is that it takes 16 WHOLE HOURS to charge from empty using its inductive charging — which was equally surprising and annoying. And one more thing: it’s not quiet.

Packaging

Zumio-X-Price

The packaging for the Zumio X is interesting. It comes in an outer box, which has a picture of the toy and some shiny decoration, and then a sturdier but plainer looking inner box that contains the toy. I threw the outer box away almost immediately, but contemplated keeping the inner box for a while. It’s a nice way to keep the charging port and cables together, if you have the space for it.

Materials and care

Zumio-X-Materials-Care

The Zumio X is made primarily of hard ABS plastic, with some silicone on the handle where the controls are situated. Both of these materials are 100% non-porous and body-safe, making cleaning and care a breeze. It’s also completely waterproof and has no charging port (thanks to its inductive charging technology), so you can easily use some water and mild soap to clean your Zumio – just make sure to be delicate with the SpiroTip™!

Special feature

Zumio-X-Personal-Experience-1

The Zumio’s big selling point is its SpiroTip™ technology – the tip that rotates instead of vibrating. Different Zumio toys have different rotation patterns, but the Zumio X has a small bulbed tip that rotates in small circular motions. This results in direct, precise stimulation of the clitoris, and is pretty powerful! My biggest takeaway, however, was that it didn’t feel that much different from a very rumbly bullet vibrator.

When the Zumio X arrived at my house, it had a little power, but needed charging pretty quickly. I recommend doing a full charge before started your fun.

Set the Mood

Why rush into things? If you want to get the best results from the Zumio X, try really getting in the mood first. Light a candle, dim the lights, read some erotica, or even watch some ethical porn!

Lube Up

The Zumio X, like almost everything else, is better with lube. To protect the silicone on the toy, I recommend using a good quality water-based lube.

FAQ

How is the Zumio X different from other Zumio models?

The Zumio X and E models offer precise, targeted stimulation with small, firm tips, perfect for those who are still looking for intensity. The S and I have larger tips that make broader contact with your body and shorter stems that create smaller circles, lowering the intensity of the stimulation and allowing you to have a longer build-up without feeling overwhelmed.

Is the Zumio X a vibrator?

No, the technical term for what the Zumio X does is oscillation. It has a small stem that rotates in small circles to deliver precise, direct stimulation.

How to charge the Zumio X?

To charge the Zumio X, plug the charging port into a wall socket with a micro USB cable and AC adaptor, then place the Zumio into the port. An orange light will start to pulse in the base of the port, telling you it’s charging. 12 hours will get you an hour or so of use, but a full charge takes 16 hours. I recommend charging it overnight.

Where can you use the Zumio X?

The Zumio X is made for intense clitoral stimulation, but it can be used on other areas of the body too! Try it on the nipples or perineum for some unique sensations.

How intense is the Zumio X?

The Zumio X is one of the most intense clitoral stimulators I’ve tried. In a way, it’s like a very direct, precise, rumbly bullet vibrator. If you’re worried it will be too intense, take a look at the Zumio S and I models.
